Why Remove the Background from a Signature?
When you scan a signature on white paper, you get a white rectangle. If you place this on a form with a coloured or textured background, the white box looks unprofessional and may be rejected by stricter exam portals.
By removing the background, you get a PNG with transparency — only the ink of the signature remains. This can be placed cleanly on top of any background.
How does the sensitivity slider work?
The slider controls the brightness threshold. Pixels brighter than the threshold become transparent. A lower value removes only very bright whites. A higher value also removes light greys, useful for lightly scanned signatures with faint backgrounds.
Is my signature secure?
Yes. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded to any server.
