How is Saudi EOSB Calculated?
In Saudi Arabia, the End-of-Service Benefit (EOSB) is governed by Articles 84 and 85 of the KSA Labor Law. Your payout depends on your total salary (basic plus allowances), your length of service, and the reason for the termination of your contract.
The Base Gratuity Formula (Article 84)
If your contract is terminated by the employer, or naturally expires without renewal, you are entitled to the full award:
- First 5 years: Half a month's wage for each year of service.
- Above 5 years: One month's wage for each additional year.
The wage used for calculation is your last drawn total salary (including housing and transport allowances, unless expressly excluded in your contract).
Resignation Tiers (Article 85)
If you resign from your job, your EOSB payout is reduced based on how long you worked for the company:
- Less than 2 years: No EOSB payout.
- 2 to 5 years: You receive exactly one-third (1/3) of the total calculated award.
- 5 to 10 years: You receive exactly two-thirds (2/3) of the total calculated award.
- 10 years or more: You receive the full (100%) award.
